A Short Biography of Ty Danlock

His primary interest and focus has produced images of western Canadian Nature, endangered planetary wildlife and also of British Columbia's early mining days.

Born in Port Alberni, British Columbia and growing up in small towns of B.C., he was close to Nature, birds, fish and other wildlife, thus gaining understanding and deep appreciation of them. He is self-taught, learning through observation and experience and has worked with oil, watercolour and acrylic paint, starting to paint seriously during the mid-1980s. During the late 1970s and 1980s he worked with hardrock and burlwood, carving Canadian wildlife from these unique materials.

During the past fifteen years, each spring, summer and fall he has been in the woods, valleys and on mountain slopes for about six months, often meeting wildlife at close range. When winter approaches, he settles in to continue with brushes and paint.

In April 2004 he finished writing his first book about real-life experiences with wild animals, "In The Wilds Of Western Canada", which came out in April 2005 and is now available for purchase from the author at sunrise@mountainwild.ca or via  www.trafford.com

He now has a photographic sequence and presentation on bears, carnivores and other wild things, in which he talks about safety in the woods.

He also picks and dries wild edible mushrooms. For more information, visit his mushroom  website.
